Dineen Construction History: A Legacy of Excellence

A Strong Foundation Built in 1928

Dineen Construction was founded in 1928 by Albert E. Rule, the company’s original President and Owner. Despite the challenges of the Great Depression, Dineen quickly earned a reputation for reliability and high-quality work. A landmark achievement during its early years was the successful completion of Humbercrest Public School in Toronto, which marked a significant milestone in the company’s history.

Leadership Through Generations

After World War II, Albert Rule’s sons, Russell and Albert Jr., along with their engineering classmate John N. Gillies, took the reins of the company, guiding it through a period of growth. In 1965, Gerry Dineen and Keith Porter acquired the company, continuing its industry prominence. After Gerry Dineen’s passing in 1977, Lloyd P. Kenyon became President, overseeing the company’s continued success until it was acquired by the Clarke family in 1980. Under the leadership of Peter J. Clarke as President and Lloyd Kenyon as Chairman, Dineen expanded its operations and solidified its place as a leader in Ontario’s construction industry.
