Dineen served as Construction Manager for the prestigious Deerhurst Resort and Conference Centre expansion, a $18 million, five-phase project located in Huntsville—just two and a half hours north of Toronto. Our responsibilities included budgeting, scheduling, value engineering, trade procurement, quality control, and accounting, all delivered with the precision expected of a five-star resort development.
The project added a 102-room, four-storey hotel wing to the existing property, built with insulated form systems, hollow-core floor slabs, and an exterior finished with cement board siding to resemble traditional board and batten. Architectural highlights included timber balconies, a grand Porte-Cochere, and a striking foyer featuring massive fireplaces clad in simulated granite, complemented by cherry millwork, granite accents, and slate floors to create a warm, luxurious atmosphere.
The work took place while the resort and adjacent sports facilities remained fully occupied. Extensive excavation and blasting through the Canadian Shield required precision, while the Owner’s shifting priorities demanded ongoing adjustments to scheduling and workforce allocation.
Through close collaboration with the design team, hotel management, and resort operators, Dineen successfully delivered a complex project that blends modern hospitality standards with Huntsville’s natural charm.
