Dineen proudly delivered the renovation and expansion of the Just For Kids Pediatric Department at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, a project made possible through generous community fundraising and the support of CIBC. This revitalized space sets a new precedent for pediatric care in Toronto’s west end, transforming the fourth floor into a dynamic, child-friendly environment where families feel welcomed and supported.
The project included the renovation of the existing Just For Kids Clinic, Pediatric and CAMH departments, along with a completely redesigned children’s floor. New reception and waiting areas, exam rooms, surgical facilities, and play spaces were constructed, while major upgrades were made to fire protection, HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, power, security, and nurse call systems. To keep hospital operations running smoothly, construction was carefully phased and completed on schedule.
Beyond function, the clinic was designed to spark imagination and ease anxiety. Children can interact with kaleidoscopic dioramas through peepholes, play at a pond-shaped table with animated projections, and enjoy colorful illustrations inspired by nearby High Park—guiding wayfinding and creating a sense of wonder.
