As part of a federally supported initiative through the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, Dineen delivered a major expansion and renovation to the Stephen Leacock Community Recreation Centre.
Phase 3 of the project added a new second-floor extension and reimagined the ground floor, creating a dance studio, kitchen, storage areas, offices, and flexible community rooms with operable walls. An indoor running track was also constructed above the existing rinks, enhancing the centre’s role as a year-round community hub.
To meet updated City requirements, the project also introduced a new fire protection sprinkler system, along with extensive upgrades to HVAC, plumbing, power, and fire alarm systems. Despite unforeseen conditions that required significant redesign during construction, Dineen successfully delivered the project on schedule—ensuring the community could access and enjoy the revitalized facility without delay.
