The Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre is a four floor poured concrete brick faced structure, designed for 38 Wards, 32 Semi-Private and 12 Private Rooms.
DINEEN Construction was the project manager of this $12,000,000 dollar non-profit centre. We worked hand-in-hand with the Architect (Dunlop Farrow) and the Owner (Ukrainian Catholic Church), constantly updating the schedule and costs. Value engineering was a continuous function as the non- profit Owner relied heavily on donated monies and, therefore, had a very restricted budget. Through the cooperation of these three stakeholders, the project was brought in on budget and on time.
The 4th Floor shell was constructed for an additional 60 beds – total of 180 beds. Each Residential Floor boasts two Lounges, an Activity Room and a spacious Dining Room. Each floor contains Six Tub and Shower Rooms.
The Main Floor includes a Chapel, Gift Shop, Library, Doctor’s Office, Hairdresser / Barber Shop, Dining Room, ( over-sized ), a Bake and Crafts Room, Administrative Offices and a ‘ Winter Garden ‘, including a grand staircase, fish pond, elaborate greenery, colourful floral arrangements and spacious lounge seating.
The enclosed high-vaulted inner Courtyard includes a wide assortment of trees, flowers, and plentiful seating for special events. The total area covers approximately 115,000 sq. ft.
DINEEN worked closely with the Owner’s budgetary restraints – (i.e. – construction activity was phased to coincide with the Owner’s fundraising activities).
